Simply aMayzing Sweets - San Diego

Oh, the cake pop craze!  Small little treats that are the perfect bite when you want just a hint of sugar after eating something savory.

I have known May since elementary school, back in the good ol' 80's.  We have not seen each other since we graduated from high school, so it was really great to reconnect with her again after I found out that she opened her own local cake pop/sweets business called Simply aMayzing Sweets.

My best friend , Donna, for over 20 years was expecting her second child in September of last year. For her baby shower, I contacted May via Facebook to inquire about cake pops and she immediately responded with excitement.

The flavors that she offers for her cake pops/cakes are:
  • Chocolate
  • Yellow cake
  • Strawberry
  • Lemon
  • Red velvet
  • Mocha
  • Chocolate cake blended with Andes mint chocolate
  • Cheesecake
  • Chocolate peanut butter
  • German chocolate
  • Brownie
  • Oreo truffle
  • Nutter Butter truffle
WHOA.  Decisions, right?  Donna and her sister chose red velvet, yellow cake and Nutter Butter truffle.  May went right to work and even worked with us to ensure that her cake pops matched the color scheme of the baby shower.

May works out of her own kitchen in Mira Mesa.  She worked in the corporate world until she realized that baking was her passion, so she opened up her own business.

We picked up the cake pops at May's house the morning of the shower.  The pink cake box was decorated with a pretty ribbon.

We ordered 40 cake pops.  Each cake pop was individually wrapped and came with a personalized tag.  Look how pretty the cake pops look in the box.

As you can imagine, I had to try all three flavors.  I mean, I have to review them all, right?  *smirk*  The texture of May's cakes are super, SUPER moist.  I am not a dessert person at all, but I can eat these all day.  They are not light, but in a good way... each bite leaves you wanting more.

Each cake pop was hand decorated by May herself and you can see what attention and care she works on every single one.

The red velvet cake pop was delicious; a nice subtle flavor of chocolate wrapped around a perfect thin layer of fondant.

Some people will think that yellow cake is boring, but I love it.  May's cake pop made yellow cake more exciting.  The yellow cake pop was buttery and sweet.

This one was my absolute favorite... Nutter Butter truffle.  It really tasted like a moist, fluffy Nutter Butter cookie.  It was amazing and I was very impressed.

I will definitely be a returning customer of Simply aMayzing Sweets.  Please like her page on Facebook or follow her on Instagram.  Tell her that Janice sent you. *smile*
